This is the question I hear more than any other in the store: "What's the difference between the SEBO Dart and the SEBO Felix?" They're both German-built uprights, they're both excellent, and they're $150 apart. Here's the honest answer from someone who sells — and repairs — both.
The short version
The Dart and Felix share the same motors, the same power head, and the same filtration. The Felix costs more because it adds four things: variable suction control, swivel steering, an adjustable handle, and a parquet hard-floor tool in the box. If those matter to you, get the Felix. If they don't, the Dart cleans just as well for $150 less.

What's the same (and it matters)
Let's start here, because this is the part most websites bury: the cleaning performance is essentially identical. Same 1,300-watt motor. Same ET-1 power head with four manual height settings — the power head SEBO is famous for, the one that grooms carpet instead of just beating on it. Same S-Class sealed filtration, which is why allergists recommend SEBO. Same 3.5-liter bag, same 31-foot cord.
Both machines also do the trick the Felix line is known for: the suction unit detaches from the power head, so you've got a portable canister for stairs, upholstery, and the car. Both lay flat to the floor (about a 6-inch profile) to reach under beds and furniture.
If anyone tells you the Felix "cleans better" than the Dart, they're selling you, not informing you. The difference is features, not cleaning power.
What's actually different
1. Variable suction control (Felix only). This is the big one. The Felix has a slider in the handle; the Dart is just on/off. More suction isn't always better — on thick carpet or rugs with waterproof backing, full suction can seal the head to the floor and kill airflow. No airflow, no pickup. The Felix lets you dial it back. If you have high-pile carpet or delicate rugs, this feature alone is worth the $150.
2. Swivel steering (Felix only). The Felix's power head pivots; the Dart's neck is fixed. Around dining chairs and coffee tables, you'll feel this every single time you vacuum.
3. Adjustable handle (Felix only). The Felix handle telescopes — handy if you're tall, short, or want to use the suction unit as a handheld. The Dart's handle is one fixed length.
4. Parquet tool in the box (Felix only). The Felix Premium includes SEBO's dedicated hard-floor brush. The Dart doesn't come with one (you can buy it separately). If your home is mostly bare floors with some rugs, pay attention here.
5. Colors. The Dart comes in white and blue. The Felix comes in Onyx (black), Rosso (red), white, and several others. Purely cosmetic — but people do pick the red one with their eyes, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Who should buy the Dart?
Buy the Dart if: your home is mostly carpet and area rugs, you don't need to dial suction up and down, and you'd rather keep $150. You're giving up nothing in cleaning ability or durability. It's the smart-money SEBO — same German build, same 7-year motor warranty, $150 less.
Who should buy the Felix?
Buy the Felix if: you have thick or high-pile carpet, delicate rugs, or lots of bare floors (that parquet tool), if you want swivel steering for furniture-dodging, or if multiple people of different heights use the vacuum. The variable suction control is the feature owners tell me they use most — once you've had it, going back to on/off feels primitive.
The repair-shop perspective
We service every SEBO we sell, so I see these machines years after the sale. Here's what I can tell you: both are built like tanks. The brush rollers pop out without tools, clogs clear through an inspection door, and I rarely see either one for anything but bags and filters. Buy either one and you'll own it for 15–20 years. That's the real reason to buy SEBO over a $150 big-box special you'll replace three times.
Bottom line
Same clean, different features. The Dart is the value play; the Felix is the full-featured play. Neither is a bad choice — the only wrong move is buying a disposable vacuum instead.
